At Gawd+Gravity, the personalized jewelry that we provide is hand-crafted from precious sterling silver, solid 10k or 14k gold. With the use of sterling silver, we offer gold, platinum and rose gold plated jewelry as well.
Here are a few tips to learn more about and take good care of your purchase:
For Sterling Silver, 10k & 14k Gold:
Using a small pea sized amount of mild soap in a bowl of lukewarm water, use a small, soft toothbrush or jewelry cleaning brush to clean your jewelry. Soft bristle toothbrushes are a great tool to clean jewelry with intricate details. If the dirt is hard to remove, soak the jewelry in clean lukewarm water.
To keep gold shining and scratch-free, avoid contact with chlorine and other harsh chemicals. Do not wear jewelry during rough work and be sure to store it in a fabric-lined jewelry box or pouch. To clean gold jewelry, use warm water, a mild soap, and a soft bristled brush, if needed.
The purity of gold is measured in karats. Pure gold measures 24 karats but is too soft in this state to be used effectively in jewelry. So it is alloyed with other metals--silver, copper, nickel, and zinc--to increase its strength and durability.
When the alloy is added, common measurements that are added are 18 karat (75% gold), 14 karat (58%), and 10 karat (47.7%). In the United States, the legal karat limit for the metal to still be considered gold is 10 karats. A higher karat measurement in gold content indicates a greater value of the jewelry piece.
Rose Gold and Gold Rose gold is also commonly called pink gold. The hue is reached by increasing the amount of copper in the allow mix.
Gold, Platinum & Rose Gold Plated:
Wipe with a lint free cloth after every use. Use either a cotton ball or a lint-free cloth to remove excess oil it collects from everyday use.
Restore shine with a jewelry cloth by simply rubbing the surface.
To reduce tarnish stains, make a water-soap solution using lukewarm water and a gentle soap. Soak the jewelry, use a soft brush and gentle scrubbing motion to polish away dirt and restore shine.
Rinse off the jewelry under warm water and dry with a fresh, lint-free cloth.
